Davis Cup Group Stage 2023 Odds
Given the nature of this event – not a mandatory ATP Tour tournament, and occurring the week after the US Open – online bookies in Europe are not offering outright 2023 Davis Cup Finals Group Stage odds. However, short of having the odds to back it up, here are the five favorites to win the Davis Cup in 2023:
- United States
- Serbia
- Spain
- Great Britain
- Australia
All of these five are expected to advance beyond their groups this week, with Serbia and Spain coupled together in Group C and Great Britain paired with Australia in Group B. Barring any upsets, these nations should dominate this week and book their spots in November’s playoffs.

Participants and Format of the 2023 Davis Cup Finals Group Stage
The 2023 Davis Cup Finals Group Stage sees last year’s finalists (Canada and Australia) joined by two wildcards (Italy and Spain) plus 12 teams that qualified earlier this year in February’s qualifying round.
These 16 teams are divided into four groups, which will play three round-robin ties consisting of two singles and one doubles match. The top two nations from each group then advance to November’s playoffs. Here’s how the four groups are organized and how we say each group will unfold:
Group A
Country | Predicted Group Finish |
---|---|
Canada | Second |
Chile | Third |
Italy | First |
Sweden | Fourth |
Despite having the defending champions, this is one of the weaker groups, with none of our five favorites present. We say Italy will progress quite easily, while Canada will be lucky to scrape past Chile for the second qualifying spot.
Group B
Country | Predicted Group Finish |
---|---|
Australia | First |
France | Third |
Great Britain | Second |
Switzerland | Fourth |
Group B is undeniably the group of death. Realistically, any of Australia, France, or Great Britain could win the whole competition this year, yet one will see their campaign end this week. We say Australia, who have a trio of in-form players plus the mercurial Kokkinakis, will top the group, with Great Britain, spearheaded by Andy Murray, will edge out France for second place.
Group C
Country | Predicted Group Finish |
---|---|
Czech Republic | Third |
Serbia | First |
South Korea | Fourth |
Spain | Second |
This was going to be the group to watch, with a much-anticipated fourth meeting this year between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz on the cards. However, the Spaniard’s withdrawal has instead left his country fighting tooth and nail to stay alive. Serbia is likely to top the group, and Spain manages to get past the Czech Republic for the runner-up position.
Group D
Country | Predicted Group Finish |
---|---|
Croatia | Third |
Finland | Fourth |
Netherlands | Second |
United States | First |
The United States have put together a powerful team this year and are every chance of winning their first title since 2007. Expect them to top the group, with the Netherlands upsetting home favorites Croatia for the remaining qualifying spot.
2023 Davis Cup Predictions (Finals Group Stage)
With that in mind, let’s make some money! Here are our top Group Stage 2023 Davis Cup predictions based on the latest tennis odds:
Australia to Defeat Great Britain @ 2.20 (6/5)
2 (100%)
0
A mouth-watering contest awaits in the group of death as an evenly matched Australia take on Great Britain. We say the Aussies will have the edge here. Alex de Minaur is their top player, with the world No. 12 in searing form across the past two months. Jordan Thompson and Max Purcell have also been in fine form, serving their way to some excellent upsets across the North American hard-court swing.
The likes of Cam Norrie, Dan Evans, and Jack Draper can be dreadfully unreliable, and despite the fact that Andy Murray will no doubt bring his usual best, we say that Australia are a safe bet with in-play betting sites to take out this tie and go on to top the group.
Mackenzie McDonald to Defeat Borna Gojo @ 2.20 (6/5)
1 (50%)
(50%) 1
American Mackenzie McDonald has rounded into some great form in the second half of this year and is now on the brink of cracking the world’s top 30 for the first time at a career-high of 39. The 28-year-old is 27-22 for the year, with upset wins over the likes of Felix Auger-Aliassime, Holger Rune, Andrey Rublev, and Taylor Fritz in recent months.
We say he’ll bounce back from his US Open defeat at the hands of Borna Gojo and get revenge over the Croatian on Wednesday. McDonald had played a lot of tennis by the time he faced Gojo at the US Open, and the world No 77 was in a rare spot of form. Overall, McDonald is the better, more consistent player and is a great bet to beat Gojo here.
Under 20.5 Games in Paul vs Coric @ 2.90 (15/8)
2 (100%)
0
This will be the first meeting between Tommy Paul and Borna Coric, and we say it will emphatically go the way of the American. Paul has been having a brilliant summer, defeating Carlos Alcaraz in Toronto and making the round of 16 at the US Open to sit at 35-20 for the year. There’s a reason he’s No. 13 in the world, and that’s the fact that he consistently performs on the 2023 ATP Tour.
Borna Coric, on the other hand, is hit-and-miss. Sometimes, he’s brilliant, but much more often, he’s mediocre. He’s not beaten anyone of Paul’s rank this year, while he’s suffered several heavy defeats to top 10 players, losing 6-3, 6-2 to Tsitsipas in Los Cabos, 6-4, 6-3 to Alcaraz in Madrid, and 6-3, 6-2 to Medvedev in Dubai.
Expect this match to reflect those score lines and be under 20.5 games in favor of Tommy Paul.
