The first ShopRite LPGA Classic tournament took place in 1986. Initially held at Seaview, the event relocated to Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point between 1988 and 1997. Since 1998, it has returned to its initial venue, the Bay Course at Seaview. The tournament was paused from 2007 to 2009 but has been held annually since its return. It is a 54-hole competition played over three days. This year’s edition features a $1.75 million purse.

She has experience winning this tournament and will be fully aware of the challenges that lie ahead.
The 2025 Blue Bay LPGA champion heads into this event on a strong note, following a T2 finish at the US Women’s Open. Like Ayaka, her season has been marked by inconsistency, but she has still managed to secure a tournament win and a runner-up finish. If Rio can carry the momentum from her performance at Erin Hills, she could emerge as a dark horse contender at the Bay Course at Seaview.
