In 2025, Luke made history by winning the PDC World Championship as the youngest player ever to do so. The winner of the Darts World Championship gets a £500,000 prize. Beyond darts, Luke has also landed a couple of sponsorship deals. He has a £200,000 deal for menswear brand BoohooMAN. He also has a £50,000 deal with Deliveroo to promote their Best Kebab Award.
Littler has reportedly paid over £675,985 in taxes on his career winnings. However, it’s unclear how he’s channeling the rest of his income and exactly how much he’s secured from sponsorship deals.

Humphries has also secured a number of high-profile sponsorship deals. He is sponsored by Red Dragon Darts, using their 21g signature darts tailored to his playing style. However, the financial details of this deal are not made public. Humphries claims to have paid over 35% of his total darts career earnings in taxes. Management fees also take a chunk of his income.
Michael van Gerwen
Michael van Gerwen, the highest earning darts player, has won over 150 PDC titles, including more than 90 Pro Tour victories. It’s no wonder that he’s one of the most accomplished and financially successful figures in professional darts.
He won the PDC World Championship three times, the Premier League Darts title seven times, and the World Grand Prix six times, among others. He is currently the No.3 ranked player in the PDC Order of Merit. He has reportedly made over £7 million in career income. Nathan Aspinall
Currently ranked No. 9 in the PDC Order of Merit, Nathan Aspinall is one of the only two players to have secured titles across all five of the PDC’s top circuits. These include the PDC major, the Players Championship, the Development Tour, the World Series, and the Challenge Tour.
Interestingly, Nathan Aspinall began his career as a football (soccer) goalkeeper. He, however, transitioned into professional darts, making his debut on the PDC Pro Tour in 2012. So far, he has amassed over £2 million in prize money, with £508,000 of that coming from PDC ranking tournaments in just the last two years. Beyond his darts net worth, Aspinal also earns through sponsorship deals. He’s a partner with Target Darts, using their 26g signature darts.
Gerwyn Price
Like Aspinall, Gerwyn Price also played another sport, rugby, before transitioning to playing darts professionally. Currently ranked No. 11 in the PDC Order of Merit, he has amassed over 40 PDC titles, which include his 2021 PDC World Championship that made him the first Welshman to win the title.

Beyond the average darts player’s net worth, Price also has some business investments through which he makes extra income
In terms of finances, Price has reportedly accumulated approximately £4.26 million in prize money. He’s earned £485,000 from PDC ranking tournaments in the last two years.
Beyond the average darts player’s net worth, Price also has some business investments through which he makes extra income. He reportedly owns a fish and chip shop in his hometown of Markham, South Wales. He’s also secured a number of sponsorship deals with brands like Red Dragon Darts, his primary sponsor, which provides him with custom-made darts, Monster Energy, and BoohooMAN, among others.

Legendary darts players win plenty of titles. However, when it comes to defining true greatness, Phil Taylor is the benchmark. No one in professional darts has dominated quite like him.
The 65-year-old Englishman, who goes by the name Crazy Porter, has won a staggering 214 professional tournaments. According to reports, Phil Taylor has amassed around £8.5 million in prize money, although many of his tournament and exhibition earnings are not accounted for. He retired from professional darts in 2024 after facing a persistent hip injury, which led him to withdraw from the 2024 World Masters. Before that, he competed in the 2022 and 2023 World Seniors Darts Championship, reaching the quarter-final rounds.
Outside of his average darts player salary, Taylor boasts of a number of sponsorship deals, including one with Target Darts, his signature darts and equipment brand. According to reports, he also has several real estate investments, including his luxury home in Stoke-on-Trent. Even in retirement, he remains a prominent figure in the darts community, contributing through coaching and media engagements.
Scott Williams
Scott Williams is another top English professional darts player who’s earned quite a substantial amount from the sport. Currently ranked No. 37 in the PDA Order of Merit, he has made £234,750 from prize money in PDC ranking tournaments in the last two years.
Williams announced himself to the professional darts world in 2022, winning four Challenge Tour titles and defeating Nathan Aspinal at the Players Championship 17. Interestingly, he wasn’t a PDA tour card holder then, making him one of the only three players who have won a ranking event without a tour card.
Some of the other notable accomplishments recorded over the years include his quarter-final finish at the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship and semi-final finish in the 2023 Hungarian Darts Trophy. Williams has a sponsorship deal with Target Darts, which makes his 25g Target Signature Gen 1 darts.

John Rock is also on a multi-year sponsorship deal with Target Darts and currently uses their 24g Target darts.
Revenue Streams for Professional Darts Players
Let’s examine the major ways through which professional darts players make money:
Prize Money
The primary way professional darts players make a living is through tournament prize money, which can vary widely depending on the event. The PDC World Darts Championship has been the most lucrative tournament. It is held annually, and professional Premier League darts players earn a whopping £500,000 when they win it.
Other players also get a share of the tournament prize pool, which can be as high as £2.5 million. However, the exact amount each of them takes home depends on how far they progress in the competition. For instance, in the PDC World Darts Championship, even those knocked out in the early rounds still have about £7,500-£15,000.
Sponsorship Deals
Besides what they make from darts tournaments, sponsorship deals are another major income source for professional players. Much like other sports, as players compete in more darts tournaments, especially the popular ones shown on TV, they gain popularity and visibility. This attracts brands that want to be identified with them, and they strike partnerships at a set price. As part of the deal, the players may be required to have the brand’s logo on their shirts, promote a product, feature in an ad, and so on.
Exhibition Matches
Exhibition matches are another way darts scorers get paid. These are non-competitive or informal events that don’t count toward rankings or official titles.
Professional darts players are usually paid to participate in these exhibition games, which can be a lucrative sum for the winners. For example, Luke Littler reportedly scheduled 13 exhibition events across the UK following his PDA championship title, with potential earnings of up to £10,000 per night.
Merchandise Sales
Many darts players, especially those with a strong public image and loyal fanbase, also make money from selling branded items like shirts, darts, and other accessories to fans. These sales are typically made through official websites, sponsorship partners, or live events and exhibitions, where players may also sign items and engage directly with supporters.
Media Appearances
Like in many other sports, media appearances can add to the darts player salary. This could include interviews, appearances on TV shows, or commentary roles. Their online presence, especially on social media, could also generate significant income.
Basically, players get paid to make these media appearances, maybe on a show, an interview, or any other media appearance. With a substantial presence and followership on social media platforms like Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, etc., players could also earn from ad revenue, sponsorship, and partnership deals.
Also, media appearances and online presence can help grow a player’s profile, popularity, and fan base, which can help them tap into more income streams or improve existing ones. For example, a very popular professional darts player will get paid more for an exhibition match.
Final Words
Darts is no longer just a casual pub game. It’s a highly competitive professional sport with global tournaments, televised events, and athletes who dedicate their lives to training and competition. It also garners reasonable betting action, with several sportsbooks allowing punters to bet on darts tournaments like The World Championship, The Premier League, etc.
As you can see from the list above, plenty of players earn a decent living from the sport. While the most prominent income stream is tournament prizes, darts players also make money through exhibition matches, sponsorships, media appearances, or even by selling their merchandise. However, generating significant revenue as a professional darts player is not easy. Besides talent, it takes dedication, consistency, and determination to break into the top few percent who live large from the sport.
