History & Format of the Wyndham Championship
The Wyndham Championship has an 87-year-long history. Starting as the Greater Greensboro Open, it got its current name in 2007, when Wyndham Hotels & Resorts acquired title sponsorship rights.
It was also rescheduled as the final PGA Tour event before the FedEx Cup at that time. Previously, the tournament used to take place in late autumn.
Past Winners of the PGA Wyndham Championship
- 2024 – Aaron Rai beat Max Greyserman
- 2023 – Lucas Glover beat An Byeong-hun, Russell Henley
- 2022 – Tom Kim beat John Huh, Im Sung-jae
- 2021 – Kevin Kisner beat Branden Grace, Kim Si-woo, Kevin Na, Adam Scott, Roger Sloan
- 2020 – Jim Herman beat Billy Horschel
No other player has dominated the Wyndham Championship like Sam Snead. He won the tournament a record eight times, while no other winner managed to lift the trophy more than twice. Aaron Rai won the competition last year, beating Max Greyserman. The Englishman will be favored as a popular pick in the PGA Wyndham Championship 2025 predictions as well.
Golf 2025 Wyndham Championship Odds & Favorites
Top sportsbooks have published the latest PGA 2025 Wyndham Championship odds as we are only a few days away from the opening day of the tournament. These are the players to watch heading into the competition:
Matt Fitzpatrick @ 23.00 (22/1)
Golf high odds sportsbooks are treating Matt Fitzpatrick as the favorite this week. The ex-US Open champion has been in great form over the last one and a half years. So, he enters the fray with the shortest odds to win the Wyndham Championship 2025 PGA.
Ben Griffin @ 26.00 (25/1)
Ben Griffin enters the week as the top-ranked player in the FedEx Cup standings, currently sitting seventh. So, expect to see his name pop up across PGA Wyndham Championship 2025 predictions.
Keegan Bradley @ 29.00 (28/1)
The U.S. Ryder Cup captain ended a six-year absence at this course last year with a T22 finish, and sportsbooks are backing him to improve this time. Much optimism comes after his victory at the Travelers Championship a month ago.
Robert MacIntyre @ 34.00 (33/1)
MacIntyre’s history at the Wyndham is less than impressive, but his recent form, which saw him secure two major top-10s, suggests that could change in a big way this week. Maybe, the absence of some noticeable names will open the winning door for him.
Aaron Rai @ 34.00 (33/1)
Aaron Rai’s form has remained steady since his first PGA Tour victory last August. He has featured in all four majors for the first time in his career and will look to become one of the rare repeat champions of the Wyndham Championship.
Wyndham Championship 2025 Golf Betting Tips
As the PGA 2025 Wyndham Championship odds across US bookmakers for betting on sports suggest, there is no clear favorite to take the trophy home from North Carolina this week. So, the outright pick for this tournament offers tempting returns. We’ve provided two extra predictions to give you more options before locking in your Wyndham Championship bets.
Ben Griffin to Win @ 26.00 (25/1)

The final weeks of the season are shaping up to be just as big as the rest for Griffin. After breaking through with a win at the Zurich Classic, he proved it was no fluke by outdueling Scottie Scheffler to capture the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Griffin posted two top-10 finishes in majors earlier this season, but recent form suggests he may have peaked just a touch too soon. The 29-year-old missed the cut at both the Rocket Mortgage Classic, where he was highly fancied, and The Open. While his Open performance can partly be attributed to the challenges of links golf, Griffin must bounce back fast to make a strong case for Ryder Cup selection by Keegan Bradley.
Griffin has two strong finishes at the Wyndham Championship to his credit—a fourth and a T7—on either side of a missed cut in 2023. Though his short game has always been reliable, Griffin’s recent gains in driving and approach play could set the stage for another standout performance.
Robert MacIntyre Top-10 Finish @ 4.20 (16/5)

Robert MacIntyre is hitting form at just the right time and looks all but certain to book his spot for the 2025 Ryder Cup in New York. MacIntyre may lack elite distance off the tee, but that won’t hold him back at Sedgefield, where his accuracy and superb iron play are perfectly suited. We expect the Scotsman to make a top-10 finish at Greensboro this weekend.
Aaron Rai Top-Five Finish @ 8.50 (15/2)

Rai’s victory at last year’s Wyndham Championship came as little surprise on a course that rewards fairway-finders like him. Although Rai’s lack of length can be a disadvantage elsewhere, it’s not an issue at Sedgefield. His 2025 season hasn’t quite matched last year’s highs, but he’s still finding fairways and hitting crisp irons. Rai is still looking for his second PGA Tour victory, but he should be good enough for a top-five spot here.
