History & Format of the Wyndham Championship
The Wyndham Championship has an 87-year-long history. Starting as the Greater Greensboro Open, it got its current name in 2007, when Wyndham Hotels & Resorts acquired title sponsorship rights.
It was also rescheduled as the final PGA Tour event before the FedEx Cup at that time. Previously, the tournament used to take place in late autumn.

The final weeks of the season are shaping up to be just as big as the rest for Griffin. After breaking through with a win at the Zurich Classic, he proved it was no fluke by outdueling Scottie Scheffler to capture the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Griffin posted two top-10 finishes in majors earlier this season, but recent form suggests he may have peaked just a touch too soon. Robert MacIntyre is hitting form at just the right time and looks all but certain to book his spot for the 2025 Ryder Cup in New York. MacIntyre may lack elite distance off the tee, but that won’t hold him back at Sedgefield, where his accuracy and superb iron play are perfectly suited. We expect the Scotsman to make a top-10 finish at Greensboro this weekend.
Rai’s victory at last year’s Wyndham Championship came as little surprise on a course that rewards fairway-finders like him. Although Rai’s lack of length can be a disadvantage elsewhere, it’s not an issue at Sedgefield. His 2025 season hasn’t quite matched last year’s highs, but he’s still finding fairways and hitting crisp irons. Rai is still looking for his second PGA Tour victory, but he should be good enough for a top-five spot here.
