The Amundi Evian Championship started off in 1994 as the Evian Masters and became a major in 2013. The tournament is held every July at the Evian Resort Golf Club in France, with a 72-hole tournament that’s 6,333 yards long. At the start, 132 players entered the competition, and they were cut to the top 70 and tied after two days. It was originally on just the European tour but saw a prize increase to $8 million after it became co-sanctioned on the LPGA tour.
Ayaka Furue won the Amundi Evian Championship last year, beating Stephanie Kyriacou by one stroke margin of victory. Brooke Henderson has appeared in the final two twice in the last three years.

Ayaka Furue enters as the defending champion of this tournament, but she needs a convincing performance this weekend. Her only great finish in the last few weeks was the T4 at the ShopRite Classic, but she’s still a top player and one to keep an eye on.
