Women’s Super League 2025/26 Format & Overview

The 2025/26 WSL will feature 12 teams playing in a round-robin format, with each team facing every opponent twice (home and away) for a total of 22 matches per team. The team finishing top of the table is crowned champion and qualifies for the UEFA Women’s Champions League second round, alongside the second-placed team. A spot in the Champions League qualifying rounds is available for the team that finishes in third place.

The team finishing last will face the third-placed side from the Women’s Super League 2, with the winner securing a spot in the expanded 2026/27 WSL season. Earlier this year, some changes were made to expand the WSL to 14 teams from next season. Due to this change, the WSL 2 will promote two teams, while the last team in the WSL this season will face the 3rd place in the WSL 2 at the end of the campaign in a playoff match.

History Of The English Top Women’s Football Division

The WSL was established in 2010, and it’s England’s top women’s football competition. Since its launch in 2011, the league has been one of the best women’s competitions in the world and one of the most-watched tournaments. Chelsea have been the dominant team, winning eight titles, including the last six. Manchester City have come very close a couple of times in the last few seasons, more than any other team, and they will be hoping for a better outcome this year. The league’s competitive nature makes it a good market for punters, and we have exciting season predictions for the WSL 25/26.

Previous Winners Of The Women’s Football Super League

Chelsea W beat the likes of Arsenal W and Manchester City W to the title last season, finishing 12 points above the Gunners, who ranked second. The Blues went unbeaten last season, setting a new points record as they won their sixth consecutive title.

Chelsea W @ 2.05 (21/20)

Chelsea Women are favorites to win the 2025-26 Women’s Super League title, after they went unbeaten under new manager Sonia Bompastor. Their domestic treble, including the WSL, FA Cup, and League Cup, makes them undeniable favorites, although they aren’t far from Arsenal Women on the 2025-26 WSL winner odds. The Blues have added Ellie Carpenter to the team this summer, and they have a good shot at winning a seventh consecutive title.

Arsenal W @ 2.75 (7/4)

Arsenal Women are just behind Chelsea Ladies on the odds to win the WSL, and the Blues were the only team better than them in the league last season. Under Jonas Eidevall, Arsenal W have built a very competitive team with key signings like Mariona Caldentey and Rosa Kafaji adding attacking cover to an already talented squad. They won the UWCL last season, beating Barcelona Femeni, and it’s a huge boost for them to contest for their first WSL title since 2019.

Manchester City W @ 9.00 (8/1)

Manchester City Women kept themselves in the title race for most part of the 24/25 season, but they fell off in the last few weeks and ended the campaign one point outside the top three. Khadija Shaw missed the vital part of last season, and City would be hoping she stays fit to form a deadly attack alongside Vivianne Miedema. The Citizens last won the Women’s Super League in 2016, and they finished as runners-up in the domestic cup last term.

Manchester United W @ 10.00 (9/1)

Manchester United Ladies head into another season looking to win their first ever Women’s Super League title. The Red Devils are a top-four team on the betting odds for football, but there’s a huge gap between them and the top two, with the bookies valuing them at 10.00 (9/1). Marc Skinner took charge of the team four years ago, and he won the Women’s FA Cup in the 23/24 season, but a league title would be a huge achievement with the team.

London City Lionesses @ 21.00 (20/1)

Newly promoted side London City Lionesses makes it to the top five favorites, and they’ve been quite a popular bet on 25/26 WSL season predictions, after a season in the WSL 2. Joselyn Precheur took charge of the team last year and did great work in the lower division to bring them to the top flight. Isobel Goodwin was very instrumental in the Lionesses’ success last year, and they would be dreaming of the unthinkable.

Chelsea W has the best team in the country by a mile, and they look set for another season of dominance in the Women’s Super League. The Blues ended their campaign last time with a win over Manchester United W in the Women’s FA Cup final, pitting three goals past one of the league’s best defenses. It will only get better this season as they have maintained their squad, and there are not so many level-raising signings from the other teams. Chelsea W went undefeated in domestic competitions last season, and they’re the best team to bet on for the 25-26 Women’s Super League predictions.

Manchester City W had a good first half of the season last term, but they fell off after long-term injuries to key players. The new season will be very different for Andreé Jeglertz’s side as they have a very good attack that can go head-to-head with any team in the league. Manchester City women have been runners-up in the Super League seven times since its inception in 2015, and they won the league in 2016. The team looks better this year, and they went all the way to the finals of the League Cup last term, despite not having a full squad. If there’s any team that can beat Chelsea to the league this season, the Citizens are a worthy bet.

Manchester United aren’t a big contender this season, but they’ve been able to grind out results over the last few seasons and can get a decent finish in the league. The Red Devils had the second-best defense in the league last season, conceding just 16 goals in 22 matches. They had a very good defensive record in 2023, shipping just 12 goals in 22 league games, which was the best defensive performance that season. Marc Skinner has been able to guide his team to a top-three finish twice in the last three seasons, and they can achieve that feat again. Backing Man United to rank among the top three is a good pick on Women’s Super League predictions 2025/26.
