Belgian Pro League 2025/26 Format & Overview
The Belgian Pro League is organized in a relegation/promotion style with the Challenger Pro League. The league consists of 16 teams, as each team plays a total of 30 matches in the regular season. After that, the top six teams in the standings qualify for the championship group, the following six teams qualify for the conference league group, while the bottom four teams play in the relegation group.
The Jupiler Pro League season starts a little earlier than most of the European leagues, on July 26, and it will run for about 10 months. Zulte Waregem and La Louvière got promoted to the Jupiler Pro League this season, while KV Kortrijk and Beerschot VA were relegated to the Challenger Pro League.
History of the Belgian Top Football Championship
The Belgian Pro League was first established in 1895, and FC Liégeois won the first-ever title. Anderlecht have won the most championships of any Belgian club (34), and they are followed by Club Brugge with 19 titles, while the Royale Union SG have won 12 championships.
This will be the 123rd edition of the Jupiler Pro League. The system of the championship, relegation, and conference league groups was first introduced in 2009, so this will be the 17th edition with this format.

25/26 Belgian Pro League Odds & Favorites
Here’s a look at the 2025–26 Belgian Pro League winner odds and the favorites to win the championship from the best football bookies for the upcoming season:
Club Brugge @ 3.0 (2/1)
Club Brugge will be the favorites in a two-horse race with Royale Union SG, as they aim to reclaim the title after losing it in the last rounds last season. FC Bruges have made some interesting moves in the transfer window, selling Maxim De Cuyper to Brighton and Chemsdine Talbi to Sunderland, and they acquired Nicolo Tresoldi and Ludovit Reis to replace them.
Royale Union SG @ 4.30 (33/10)
It will be a tough task for the Apaches to defend their title this season. They made an incredible run in the playoffs, winning the title despite finishing the regular season 13 points behind the leaders, as they won nine games and drew one of their 10 matches in the championship group. They signed the Austrian promising striker, Raul Florucz, from Olimpija Ljubljana, but they sold one of their primary midfielders in Noah Sadiki.
Genk @ 9.0 (8/1)
Genk finished third last season and qualified for the Europa League qualifications, but they didn’t really play well in the championship group, as they were on top of the league in most parts of the regular season. The Smurfs haven’t been very active in this transfer window so far, but they are always one of the contenders for the top four.
Anderlecht @ 9.0 (8/1)
Anderlecht last won the Belgian Pro League in the 2016–17 season, but their current squad is much weaker than the one they had that year. They managed to reach the Belgian Cup final last season, but they lost it to Club Brugge in a thrilling game. The Purple and White’s most notable transfer this season is the 18-year-old Serbian striker, Mihajlo Cvetkovic, who has done well with Cukaricki lately.
Antwerp @ 16.0 (15/1)
You can’t find an older club in Belgium than Antwerp, and they have won five titles so far, lastly in the 2022–23 season. The Reds finished outside of the top four for the last two seasons, and their preparations for the new season haven’t been ideal either, as they are on a four-game winless streak right now. They reached the semifinals of the Belgian Cup last season and were close to knocking out Anderlecht.
Belgian Pro League 25/26 Season Betting Tips
Club Brugge to Win Outright @ 3.0 (2/1)
2 (67%)
(33%) 1
Club Brugge haven’t lost the title in consecutive seasons since 2015, consistently bouncing back after a poor campaign. They managed to win the 2025 Belgian Cup final after defeating Anderlecht, and they made one of the biggest upsets of the UCL last season by knocking out Atalanta from the round of 32. FC Bruges are having very good preparations for the new season with two wins and two draws, which pushes their unbeaten streak to 10 games.
FC Bruges have one of the best-balanced squads in the league, and they have very nice odds to win the title, since they have won six of the last 10 Belgian Pro League editions.
High-Odds Winner Prediction – Genk @ 9.0 (8/1)
3 (100%)
0
The best bookmakers in Belgium have very enticing odds on Genk to win the title this season. The Smurfs have shown what they are capable of in the last regular season, as they were nine points above Club Brugge, and they would have won the title easily if they hadn’t completely collapsed in the Champions’ playoffs. They won both their friendly games before the season with style, as they scored five goals and didn’t concede any. This could finally be their year if they manage to replicate last season’s regular season success.
Pro League Belgium 2025/26 Matchday 1 Betting Pick
Anderlecht vs Westerlo – Anderlecht to Win @ 1.75 (3/4)
3 (100%)
0
Anderlecht have always done well historically against Westerlo at home, as the Purple and White beat them in four of their last six home games. Anderlecht have looked sharp in the pre-season, as they are unbeaten in the five games they have played so far. Westerlo are the complete opposite, as they have lost four of their six friendly games in the pre-season, so this looks like another home win for the Purple and White over them.
