The Men in Blue are leagues ahead of their Asian neighbors in terms of squad depth and player caliber. Right now, there are debates going on about whether Yashasvi Jaiswal or Shubman Gill should get a spot at the top of the Indian batting order. One of these men may well miss out. To be clear, if they were playing for any of the other teams in this competition, they’d be their best player, by far.
With a wealth of batting experience up top, firepower in the middle order, and searing pace combined with wily spin, India is the full package. It’s very, very hard to see them not winning this thing.

…But, this is T20 we’re talking about. All it takes is a few good balls and one batsman to play the innings of their life, and that can sway a result. Which is why we’d recommend hedging against India by putting a few units on Bangladesh to claim their maiden Asia Cup title.
Bangladesh are a gritty, niggly side that have long flown under the radar in white ball cricket. They don’t have the same kind of star power as India – or even Pakistan and Sri Lanka – but as their recent results have shown, they know how to get over the finish line. Group A only has two realistic contenders to top it: India and Pakistan. Whoever wins their Group A clash will almost certainly come out in top spot. There has been plenty of political tension surrounding their imminent meeting, given that the two nations were briefly at war earlier this year.
Regardless of form or which players are on the pitch, these contests are always close. Sure, it feels 60/40 in India’s favor, but with odds of 3.25 (9/4) for Pakistan to top the group, that’s a bet we’re happy to take. Don’t worry, India not topping Group A isn’t a big deal – they can, and most likely will, still move through and make the final.
